Everything was great. Breakfast is full of options. The room is super comfy and spacious. Swimming pool is nice.

Unfortunately the top floor bar wasn’t open.

Nothing to complain about

This is a mid size family hotel in an old building. The staff are always helpful, the breakfast is a decent spread. We were there over the new year so it was quite fully booked. The location is great as we just cut through a small lane between 2 building plots to get to the other street where the cafes were. The lane was narrow but interesting with graffiti art.

Our first room was quite dark, maybe we were given that as we booked quite late. But the staff was able to switch us to a better, brighter room after some guests checked out. Also the first room faced the pool and it was always crowded so we couldn’t draw open the curtains. There wasn’t much in the hotel, though there was a small top floor “massage” area but the set up was very basic.

The swimming pool can be used 24/7 which is not common.

Breakfast was good with coffee and tea. As a tea drinking person I would like to can choose at least between 2 kind of tea.

Everything was good! Definitely a great choice for a central, quick stay in Yogyakarta. Great location as well, surrounded by local restaurants and handy stores. Also, very kind staff. Breakfast buffet has tones of options.

I expected the pool to be refreshing but the water was rather warm. Not sure if this is something they could have influenced though, the weather was intense… The gym is in the basement, not very welcoming but enough for a simple workout. The bike in there made annoying squeaky noice while in use.

Staying in Prawirotaman as a foreigner proved to be an excellent decision, and The Gallery Hotel was the perfect choice for accommodation. Nestled in the heart of Prawirotaman, this 4-floor hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. My room, boasting a picturesque view of the pool, was incredibly spacious and provided the utmost comfort. I highly recommend opting for the room package that includes breakfast, as it offers a delightful introduction to typical Indonesian cuisine each day. The attentive waitstaff were always on hand to explain the intricacies of each dish, adding to the overall dining experience. The spa located on the 5th floor more than made up for it, offering top-notch massages that left me feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. Additionally, the convenient drop-off service to the airport provided by the hotel's shuttle bus is an excellent option for travelers, priced at a reasonable 80,000 IDR.

While the hotel does offer tours to various tourist destinations, I found them to be slightly overpriced compared to options available in the surrounding area.

Breakfast was good, different foods on different days. cheap ramen store across the road. limited smoking room at the top floor, with only staircase access for the smoking room. smoked in Balcony

Room was not so brightly lit, bathroom was quite dark. sink was choked and resulted in slow waste water discharge, requested to clear the choke twice in 2 days but still not done after checked out end of the fifth night stay. little far from main street Maibolo. Mattress with surface caved in ( long used by many guests before ) room could be more sound proof, waking up by the prayer every morning.

The Facts : This was my second stay in the hotel, the first one being in 2015. The hotel, being relatively new then, had left a very good impression and I had provided a very high review. However, this time around, it did not live up to the same expectations. Perhaps the pandemic, which has left several businesses closed down has taken a toll on this hotel also. It has become a basic hotel now with service standards depleted 1. It's a decent hotel for the price one pays. That being said, Yogyakarta is the second cheapest tourist destination in Asia 2. Location - it's in Jln Prawirotaman No. 2. There are many nearby eateries 3. Travel Desk - We booked our taxi to Borobudur from the hotel desk - 600KIDR for 6 hours. One can get a better deal with the private vehicle operators (there are a lot available) 4. A nearby mosque will wake you up early with the morning prayers. But this being Indonesia, one should be prepared for it and though it woke me up, the prayer sounded very calming 5. They can accommodate an extra adult in the room (extra bed and breakfast) for 25KIDR per night The Good 1. Breakfast - They maintain a very good spread - Asian and continental. One can eat to heart's content 2. Room - Decent room for the price. Large toilet with a separate shower area

1. I had requested an early check in which had been acknowledged by the hotel. However, the room was not ready and it took a while 2. While waiting for the room, decided to have lunch in their restaurant which was kind of a let down. We had ordered a simple lunch of rice, Chicken chap cai and gado gado. The chap chai was absolutely bland (surprising for an indonesian cuisine) and did not come with any chilli / condiment. Further, the gado gado was brought when we had almost finished our meal. Restaurant was hot and they turned on the HVAC only after a few reminders. I would not recommend a meal in this restaurant apart from teh breakfast - which was perhaps the only highlight 3. Cleanliness - could be improved

Staff was really kind. Great breakfast, we tried the Indonesian breakfast but they also provide the continental one.

AC machine was a bit noisy, but we were so tired we actually didn’t hear it during the night.
